    Boron Trifluoride (BF3)

    Boron trifluoride (BF3) is a colorless gas with acidic, pungent, and persistent odor. Upon hydrolysis in moist air, it forms dense white smoke and rapidly dissolves in water and any organic compounds containing nitrogen or oxygen. Primarily used as a catalyst in organic reactions such as esterification, alkylation, polymerization, isomerization, sulfonation, and nitration. It serves as an antioxidant during magnesium casting and alloying and is a key raw material for producing boron halides, elemental boron, boranes, and sodium borohydride. Additionally, BF3 acts as a catalyst in various organic reactions and petroleum products, including condensation reactions.
